More Than Just a Warm Bathroom
Most people look at an IP65 infrared heater and think, “Great, I won’t freeze while I’m brushing my teeth.” But we wanted to do something a bit more clever than just fighting the morning chill. We designed these to actually tackle the gross stuff—like mold and damp walls—by playing with the infrared spectrum.
How we actually kill the damp
Here’s the thing about standard heaters: they just warm up the air. That’s fine, but it often pushes moisture right onto your cold walls, which is basically an open invitation for mold to move in. We do things differently. We use short-wave infrared emitters. Instead of just heating the air, these waves soak right into your damp tiles and walls. It makes the water molecules vibrate and evaporate way faster. It’s almost like having a passive dehumidifier built into your ceiling. By keeping the walls warm, the moisture never gets a chance to settle. And if there’s no standing water, mold spores can’t get a grip. Simple as that.
The “Waterproof” Part
Water and electricity are a nightmare together. That’s why we built these to IP65 standards. In plain English? The housing is totally dust-tight and can handle water jets hitting it from any angle. We used tempered glass and high-temp silicone seals so the unit doesn’t warp or leak when it heats up and cools down. One quick heads-up on the power: these lamps deliver a ton of heat instantly, but they pull a fair amount of juice. Just make sure your wiring can handle the peak draw. You don’t want to be tripping your breakers every time you turn the heat on.
A few tips for the install
Short-wave IR is fast. Really fast. But because it’s so direct, it can feel a bit “stinging” if you’re standing right under it. To keep it comfortable, we suggest mounting the unit at least 2.2 meters up. That gives you a nice, even glow of heat without feeling like you’re standing too close to a campfire. Also, do yourself a favor and hook it up to a timer or a humidity sensor. It keeps the element from running longer than it needs to, which saves you money on your electric bill and makes the heater last a lot longer.
