We also use a specific type of quartz glass. It lets the infrared energy slide right through instead of trapping it in the tube. This means the heat actually reaches you. Just double-check that your fixture is rated for the wattage—you don’t want the housing getting too hot. Here’s the trade-off: because we’re filtering the light for safety, these don’t heat up quite as instantly as those industrial lamps you see in factories. But in a bathroom or a nursery?
