You’ll see “IP65” on the spec sheet, but here is what that means for you in the real world. Most indoor heaters are fine until they hit a bathroom or a covered patio. Then, moisture becomes an enemy. Dust gets in, steam settles on the terminals, and suddenly your breaker trips or the element just dies. An IP65 rating is basically a shield. It keeps the dust and water sprays out of the guts of the heater. It’s the difference between a heater that lasts a few seasons and one that actually lasts years.
That “Instant” Feeling
Infrared is different. It doesn’t waste time heating up the air in the room; it goes straight for you. When you tap a button on your app, the smart relay snaps shut and the tungsten filament hits its peak temperature in a heartbeat. It’s fast. Really fast. But there’s a catch. That rapid heating and cooling puts a lot of stress on the metal. It expands and contracts over and over. To stop the element from snapping, we reinforced the junctions. A Few Things to Watch Out For
Here’s the thing: you can’t just plug a high-powered heater into a cheap, plastic smart switch you bought online. You’ll likely fry it. You need a heavy-duty relay or a contactor to handle the load. If the relay is too small, the contact points can actually weld themselves shut during that first big surge of power. Not ideal. Also, take a quick look at your wiring. If you’re swapping in a replacement element with higher wattage than your old one, it’s going to pull more amps. If your wires are too thin, you’ll lose power and the heater won’t feel nearly as hot as it should. Better to check the gauge now than to wonder why your “high-power” heater feels lukewarm.
