Keeping Your Class 100 Cleanroom Actually Clean
If you’re running a semiconductor fab, you already know the nightmare of a contaminated batch. In a Class 100 environment, you can’t have your heating elements shedding particles or off-gassing. It just doesn’t happen. Most standard IR lamps fall apart under high thermal stress. They degrade, they flake, and they dump microscopic debris right onto your production line. It’s a disaster waiting to happen. We handle this by sticking to high-purity synthetic quartz.
Why the quartz matters
We use fused silica with low hydroxyl (OH) content. In plain English? The tube won’t warp or flake when things get hot. It’s also great at letting shortwave infrared radiation pass straight through without absorbing much of it. This is a huge win because the tube stays relatively cool while the wafer or substrate gets all the heat.
Fitting these into your fab
Nobody wants to redesign their entire housing just to upgrade a lamp. That’s why we build these to be drop-in replacements. We keep the tolerances on length and diameter incredibly tight so they just… fit. We also use specialized electrodes. They won’t oxidize or “bloom” over time, which saves you from a lot of maintenance headaches down the road. One quick heads-up: keep an eye on your power density. Our high-wattage tubes get you to your target temperature fast, but they pull a lot of power. If you’re pushing 2000W+ in a small space, just double-check that your cooling fans can handle the heat buildup around the ends of the lamp.
No more “burn-in” periods
Here’s the real secret. Most people think it’s about a fancy coating, but it’s actually about the purity of the raw quartz and how we clean it. We strip away every bit of organic residue before these ever leave our shop. Usually, new lamps have a “burning off” phase where they dump carbon particulates into your cleanroom the moment you turn them on. With our lamps, that doesn’t happen. You wire them up, flip the switch, and they run clean from the very first second.
