
Stop Throwing Away Your Patio Heaters
Let’s be honest: outdoor heaters take a beating. Between the rain, the humidity, and the constant swing from freezing nights to hot days, the heating elements eventually give up. It happens. Usually, this leads to the “year five” problem. You’ve got a perfectly good machine, but one tube burns out, and because everything is welded or hard-wired together, the whole thing becomes an expensive piece of scrap metal. We thought that was a bit ridiculous.
Why we went modular
Instead of building a closed box, we built a chassis. Think of it like a slot system. The heating element isn’t buried in the guts of the machine; it just sits in a dedicated spot with simple, standard connectors. When a tube finally dies after years of hard work, you don’t have to call a technician or spend an afternoon rewiring the whole unit. You just pop the housing, pull out the old tube, and drop in a new one. It takes minutes. Not days.
Keeping the rain out (and the heat in)
Here’s the tricky part: usually, when you make something waterproof, you mess up how it breathes and sheds heat. We solved this by separating the electrical terminals from the actual heating zone. This keeps the moisture away from the connection points, but still lets the infrared tube get screaming hot. And because we use shortwave infrared, you feel the warmth the second you step under it. It doesn’t waste energy trying to heat the wind—it just warms you. It’s the only way to actually enjoy a patio when the air is biting.
The honest trade-off
Now, this design isn’t “magic”—there’s a trade-off. Because we use replaceable sockets, the unit is a few centimeters wider than those integrated, disposable models. It takes up a tiny bit more space. But in exchange, you get a machine that actually lasts. One quick tip: every couple of years, just give the connectors a quick check to make sure they’re snug. Metal expands and shrinks as it heats up and cools down, which can loosen things over time. A quick tighten prevents any sparking or overheating. Do that, and your heater will keep humming along until the element truly hits its limit.
